Let All the People Praise You O God!
Let all the people Praise You O God! Psalm 67:3
The Bible tells us that in Heaven there will be people from every language group praising God, (Rev 7:9). With over 7000 languages spoken on the earth today imagine what wonderful worship that will be. And to think that not only every language will be used to declare God greatness, but every possible type of musical instrument could also be used to tell of His wonders.
God wants all people everywhere to know the joy of praising Him. I’m writing this from the first songbook workshop ever held for the Kunda people in eastern Zambia. Over 50 people from several different Kunda chiefdoms have joined for three days to pray, receive teaching, and begin to compose songs in their own language.
We hope to put together 100 Christian songs into a book by the end of this year. Songbooks are important because they help people to learn to read. People often know the words to a song, but they have never seen those words written down. But when they do, they can begin to appreciate the blessings of learning to read.
You may wonder “Why is it so important for people to read the Bible in their own language, to pray in their own language, and to worship in their own language?
Well, when this happens then God no longer seems like a “foreign God”. He comes near to them. When they hear God through the translated scriptures and communicate in prayer with Him, they understand that He knows their deepest thoughts and innermost desires. God is then walking their village paths and He abides among them in a very intimate way.
