Moving Beyond Routine Prayers

From your missionaries in Zambia:
Ken & Sue Sawka
Praying with God’s Power
As you join us in prayer, we urge you to move beyond safe and routine prayer requests. Your prayers are an important part of a spiritual battle. The following is just a small example of how you might pray. But please ask the Holy Spirit to guide you, as you join with us in proclaiming God’s victory over the nations.

“Our Father, we come before You. We long to see Your Name lifted up over all the earth. We want Your will to be done. Lord, You said we are to ‘always pray and not give up.’ You also said that we are to pray for ‘laborers to be sent into Your harvest fields.’ Therefore, I want to pray right now for my co-laborers in Your harvest: my missionaries, Ken and Sue Sawka. I ask that You keep them in tune with Your Holy Spirit and in Your Word. May they not rely upon anything but Your power. Give them boldness so that whenever they open their mouths, they fearlessly make known the wonderful message of Jesus. Make their minds and spirits sharp, always ready to answer with gentleness those who oppose them. |

Protect Ken and Sue from the enemy who seeks to destroy them with all kinds of challenges: physical, emotional, spiritual, financial, and every supernatural force that would try to come against them. Cover them with Your full armor. Lead them not into temptation and deliver them from all evil. We bring before You the lost that they encounter each day, those for whom You died, who are in darkness, and those without access to Your Word. Break the bondages, and may Your message spread rapidly and be honored. May Your Holy Spirit cut a path through spiritual darkness, so the Word is welcomed into the hearts of the people. Open doors, open minds, and open hearts so that Your Word would fall like good seed on good soil. In the name of Jesus, we pray for open doors. Give Ken and Sue divine appointments to meet those who need You, Jesus, and those who are called of God to come alongside them to do this work. Father, please send more laborers to help in this work. Please strengthen their coworkers, Pastor Daka, Priscilla, and all those working in the Toka-Leya Bible translation project: Pastor William, Muzandu, George, Maxwell, Trevor, Blessings and Moyo. Deliver the Toka-Leya project from the schemes of the enemy who would try to divide people. |

Destroy every deceiving spirit and every evil spirit that holds people captive to fear and self-centered living. Your Word says, ‘how good and pleasant it is for believers to dwell together in unity,’ so we pray for unity among all the teams, committees, and all those involved in the work that You have called the Sawkas to do. Lord, we also pray for the Kunda people who now have the New Testament. Let truth arise among them. Do mighty miracles among them! Raise up strong believers, even people with the faith of the Apostle Paul, who had a powerful encounter with You and won many to Christ. Lord, we ask for Priscilla and Sue, especially as they bring the love of Christ in Zambia. Give these dear lost souls dreams and revelations of Jesus. Leaders turn to Christ and away from the darkness that blinds them. |

We pray for Ken and Sue’s marriage to be strong, vibrant, and a testimony of Your goodness to all around them. May their children and grandchildren grow in Your grace, have their identity in Christ, and be used for Your glory. Amen.” |

God Answers Prayer
| ✦ | We completed another two-week stay with the Toka-Leya Bible translation project. It is a two-day drive each way. |
| ✦ | Our co-laborers, Vincent, Dickson, and Gerald started ten more Bible Listening Groups among the Kunda. There are now more than 150 of these groups. |
| ✦ | Thirty people attended a special business training seminar we held and 96 attended a discipleship training. |
More Prayer Points
| ✝ | We have been overwhelmed with administrative work in the Toka-Leya project since January, when we were asked to take on more responsibilities. |
| ✝ | The previous members of the Toka-Leya committee decided not to resign. We need wisdom as to how to handle this matter going forward. |
| ✝ | Pray for wisdom as we plan our next three years in Zambia. |
